Roy Vanegas is a software engineer and an educator, having begun working with the Internet in 1996, when Netscape Navigator was in version 3. As a software engineer, he has worked for Columbia University, New York University (NYU), IBM, and Consumer Reports.

As an educator, he has taught C, Java, PHP, MySQL, PostgreSQL, CSS, Sass, JavaScript, Gulp, jQuery, Git, Processing, Arduino, and design at Columbia University, NYU, Parsons School of Design, Rhode Island School of Design, Queens College, General Assembly, The New York Code + Design Academy, and Hunter College.

He has earned degrees in music, math, computer science, and interaction design.
